Instant

Fires the moment you finish typing your abbreviation — no delimiter, no delay. It just disappears and your full text appears.

📴

Completely offline

Everything runs on your Mac. Your snippets never leave your machine. No account, no sync service, no privacy policy to read.

📅

Smart date codes

Use %B %e, %Y in any snippet to insert today's date. Time, weekday, ISO format — all supported.

🔤

Rich text support

Formatted snippets with bold, italics, and fonts paste perfectly — not just plain text.

🔍

Searchable library

Browse and search all your snippets in one window. Double-click any row to paste it wherever your cursor is.

🆓

Free during beta

No trial, no tier, no "upgrade to unlock." Download it, use it. When we do charge, it'll be $9.95/year — less than a cup of coffee.

Already have snippets?
Bring them with you.

QuickSnip reads your existing .textexpbackup files directly — no export, no conversion, no copy-paste. Every abbreviation you've built up over the years comes right over.

1

Download and unzip QuickSnip.zip. Move QuickSnip.app to your Applications folder.

2

Open QuickSnip from your Applications folder. macOS may ask if you're sure — click Open. That's it, no Terminal commands needed.

3

Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, click +, add QuickSnip, and toggle it on. Then look at the top of your screen in the menu bar — you'll see a ⚡ icon. Click it → Restart Monitoring.

4

Already have snippets? Click ⚡ → Load Backup File… and point it at your .textexpbackup file.

5

Type any abbreviation, anywhere on your Mac. Done.

6

Optional — move the icon where you want it. Hold ⌘ Command and drag the ⚡ icon to any spot in your menu bar. Drag it all the way right (next to the clock) so it's always visible. On MacBooks with a notch, this prevents it from getting hidden.
